A Lot of Lunching & Swimming in France | Part I

Jump ahead a week and I'm back in London, going through all the photos stinging with nostalgia (already) the temperatures have dropped a good 10 degrees since I flew over the Channel. A cocktail of bad wifi and the absence of any editing tools on my laptop I couldn't post anything up until now! I came back a few shades darker, a blonder mane and some sunny memories.

Now rewind a week ago, we're back in the Lot at our friend's house, we just had lunch under the old fig tree. The table was brimming with colourful salads, juicy tomatoes, puy lentils mixed with creamy goat's cheese, delicious baguettes still warm from the bakery, rillettes so delicious they melt away in your mouth, so many cheeses I don't know where to look. We are spoiled rotten, eating like kings at every meal. The rest of the day is spent by the pool with some more friends, reading and chatting away until the sun disappears behind the trees.

After a quick shower, we're all lathered up in aftersun, bikinis off, new dress on - we're ready to set off to the nearest town where they hold a film festival, with daily screenings of up and coming independant movies. Everyone gathers around the town square for a drink and a slice of quiche before finding themselves a comfortable seat down below in the outdoor cinema.

The festival is so popular we couldn't find a seat for everyone - I must admit some of us got delayed getting stuck at the crepes counter (Nutella crepes all along!) so we decided to all meet up back at the house for a late night feast and possibly ending the evening with a spot of skinny dipping... Summer nights in the South of France will forever be my favourites.

The next morning we all awoke sleepy-eyed ready for croissants and endless teapots of strong English Breakfast tea. Juicy peaches magically appeared, the croissants were again still warm from the bakery, the Nutella was out, Fiz the border collie at our feet perpetually dropping sticks on our toes in the hope we will play fetch all day long. The best kind of morning if you ask me...(minus the bruised toes...;)
