We are social distancing right now, which means we’re both working from home, and limiting our contact with other people. We walk Nemo morning and afternoon, but stay away from other owners, and walk around for an hour, changing up the parks we go to so it doesn’t get too boring (M is actually taking Nemo for a run this evening.. which is good for the both of them!) we still go to the shops when needed, but only when necessary. We haven’t succumbed to the stockpiling phenomenon. We wash our hands thoroughly, and we don’t touch our faces. We’re trying to do our part, and stay healthy (boosting our immune systems while we’re at it) We’re in touch with our neighbours in our building if anyone needs help. We try and continue to support our local cafes and businesses by buying food, drinks and takeaway food when possible.

It’s such a strange situation to be in. Like a terrible movie. Parts of me are worried and parts of me are calm. It comes in waves. I try and keep it light on Instagram, and I’m continuing to share in the hopes that some people find inspiration in it, a little escape, and I really want to up the amount of content I put out here on the blog, as I am finding myself looking for things to read, things that aren’t dark and scary, and hoping you find it helpful too.

So here goes, today I’m sharing a List of Favourite Things, a series I started a while back, where I share links to things that have made me happy, that I’ve discovered recently, read, watched, listened to… and which I think you might like!

*some of these links are affiliate links, which means if you make a purchase I get paid a tiny percentage by the brand, at no extra cost to you. It’s a great way to support me and the blog, and I’m grateful for you all!

  • Diffusing essential oils all day long, in the living room during the day, and bedroom at night. We alternate between a few oils that have known anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. I made a shortlist of a few on social media, which I thought I’d also share on here in case you want to refer back to it :

    • Ravintsara

    • Eucalyptus

    • Lavender

    • Clove

    • Tea Tree

    • Oregano

    • Lemon

    • Cinnamon

    • Bergamot

    • Lemon Balm

    • Thyme

    • Peppermint

We like to use this diffuser in our living room, it lasts almost the whole day! (I make sure to clean it with some white vinegar at the end of each day) I like to also apply ravensara/ravintsara essential oil directly to my wrists, just one drop that I rub between the inside of my wrists (if you’re sensitive, I recommend diluting it in a carrier oil) as with everything, do your research when it comes to essential oils!

  • I am sharing what daily blends I put in our diffuser in this highlight / on my Story.

  • Watched the magical documentary called “Honeyland” (you can rent it on Youtube) - a MUST watch. So beautifully put together. Such a beautiful story. Such a beautiful person. It stayed with me, and I’ve been telling everyone to watch it.

  • We’ve been playing a lot of board games over the weekend, and I thought I’d list of a few we love :

    • Settlers of Catan (we’re totally obsessed, great to play with 3/4 players)

    • Bananagrams (M loves this, and beats me every time)

    • Dobble (a laugh out loud kind of game, good for kids and grown adults)

    • Perudo (a classic, one to practice your poker face with)

    • Gub (initially a kids game, but we love it!)

    • Carcassone (we don’t have this one yet, but I’ve heard it’s really good! and also based on where I come from-ish)

  • I’ve been finding ways to reduce my anxiety around the virus, and around this strange situation we’re all in. Meditation helps a lot, and making sure I stick to it every morning helps.. I love Melissa Wood’s meditations on her app. But I also love the Calm app, and I’ve heard Insight Timer is great too. Breathing, trying to get my body moving every day, whether it’s walking the dog or doing a MW workout, or Adrienne’s yoga, it all helps. That and limiting my news intake (which I always do) and limiting the amount of social media scrolling if it’s making you anxious.

  • Getting back into reading this beautiful book.

  • Loved listening to this podcast with Gabby Reece all about relationships and parenting, as well as this podcast interviewing Melissa Wood!
