A Walk on the Downs

DSC00813DSC00807DSC00820DSC00809

We didn't exactly stay 'all cosy inside' all weekend... On saturday afternoon just after lunch, we decided to climb up on the Downs. I have done this walk for many years, but I don't think I have ever been that cold, struggling to walk in the mud, that much - ever. We were wondering why we didn't see anyone on the way up... probably because anyone in their right mind would have stayed by the fire with a steaming hot cup of tea, not braving the winds up on the hill.. but we did it! and it was actually a lot of fun. I almost landed face flat in the mud more than once, and we saw a few deers (which we then proceeded to try and follow in the woods, ending up mud skiing/sliding. Yes mud skiing is a new thing, didn't you know??)
