We are Having a Baby!! + 1st Trimester Update

  1. Georgia says:

Exciting news, congratulations! I found out I was pregnant in the spring just a couple weeks before my job recalled me from West Africa due to the pandemic. It’s always interesting to compare other’s experiences- I had a lot of the same symptoms (I thought my cramping was food poisoning before I got a positive test), and got really sensitive to smells/tastes that I usually love as well. I also worried quite a lot that something would be wrong with the baby, but every week since the anatomy scan has gotten better in that regard. And now the baby’s arrival just a few weeks away! So excited for you and your partner to feel those first flutters and kicks- it’s truly the best.

Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy. I look forward to hearing how things go for you and if you are curious about resources/birth classes I am happy to share what I’ve learned on this journey as well 🙂

Thank you so much Georgia! Oh it’s so good to hear from other women who felt the same, so thanks for sharing with me 🙂 I cannot wait to feel movement, and also for the big 20 week scan!! Thank you so much for your love, congrats on your little baby! much love x

  2. Chantel says:

congrats, Tania! you and Michael will be wonderful parents. i love that you shared so much detail here, and i can 100% relate to so much of what you’re saying. I’m 23wks along with my second baby, and i STILL can’t stand the smell of most foods. the aversions stuck around throughout my entire pregnancy last time, so i’m hoping for some relief this time around. can’t wait for more pregnancy updates!

Thank you so much!! aww you are?! congrats to you mama! haha the smell thing is crazy… our bodies are incredible and totally weird at the same time haha hope you feel better soon, crossing all fingers for you! xxx

  3. I am so over the moon happy for you Tania! Thank you for sharing your experience here so candidly, I think we had near identical first trimesters – oof! So happy to see you on the other side and feeling so well. You two are going to be the most wonderful parents, so sweet reading how you found out! Take care sweet girl and enjoy being in the dreamy second trimester <3.

Aw sweet Jessie!! I am so so incredibly excited for you, and absolutely adored your post and how honest and real you were with your journey too! You’ll see the second trimester does get easier, I feel pretty normal these days 🙂 sending you much love to you and the mini bump! xxx

  4. Lea says:

Huge congratulations to you guys! And thank you so so much for sharing your experience. It’s eerie because, I’m pregnant with my first too, and it sounds like we are due around the exact same time and have had very similar experiences so far – down to finding out this summer while in France with both our families! I really hope you continue sharing 🙂
I also had an exhausting time, starting at week 6 like you, with nausea and food aversions (the only acceptable meals for me where croque monsieur and apple slices, and pickles EVERYWHERE!), the same intense fatigue you mentioned, and also weird heart palpitations and bad fainting spells from week 10 on (I’m sharing in case someone in the same boat reads these comments: my OB confirmed it’s nothing, not harmful for me or baby, only very uncomfortable for me).
Even with work from home orders it’s been really difficult to work at all. I’m now in week 18 and things are suddenly getting better: no more nausea, less food aversions, and gone are the fainting spells. The only remaining symptom is the crazy fatigue that the doctor says will be gone by week 20. After weeks staying home and using all my energy for my job, I’m looking forward to taking a walk outside in the coming days – the most exercice I’ll have done in 4 months.
Good luck to you, with everything, and to any worried pregnant lady reading this: it gets better and you’ve got this 🙂

It’s that time of the year again when all that matters is CHOCOLATE and HOT CROSS BUNS!!! Now if you can combine the two… then you have a winning combo in my opinion. I can’t quite believe it’s been a whole year since I last made and shared these (they were in a collab with […]
