All I Want For Christmas + Giveaway (CLOSED)

  1. Gabrielle says:

    Hi! Love this post. I start thinking about Christmas shopping around September and make notes as I hunt around for the perfect gifts. I’ve taken up pottery lessons this year so nearly all my gifts will be handmade in class. I’ve already started on my ceramic baubles.
    @gabriellemyoung

  2. Laura Meredith says:

    I love essential oils! I start in November and try to have it finished by the end of the month so that December I can enjoy all of the Christmas days out and Christmas films away from the shops! Xx (@lau_meredith)

  3. Evelyne Malfliet says:

    Hi Joy,

    Love the madness of Christmas shopping you describe! My experience is similar to yours. As I travel a lot for work, I hardly find the time throughout the year to do some proper Christmas shopping so I’m always super last minute, I do my shopping literally on Christmas Eve right before the stores close and everyone falls over each other in their quest for the perfect gift. I also always try to buy something on my travels but then I end up dragging a super heavy suitcase around all the time. Conclusion made: I stick to last-minute spontaneity. Very often, those turn out to be the pest presents. 🙂

  4. Syd says:

    I usually start shopping for my little girl around September pay check as I like to buy from independents as much as possible, so usually buying a gift or two for her each month helps to spread the cost 🙂

    I have been a lot later this year and have only really began in the last week or two, we are getting married next June so have been saving for that mostly.

    I’ve also been really trying to remember less is definitely more. And one thoughtful, well made gift for a loved one is certainly better than a higher volume of less Eco-friendly stuff that will likely end up in landfill a few months down the line.

    I’m hoping to have all my gifts bought in the next week or so, and then can get to the most important task – planning the Christmas food!
    What main are you having this year? We made Gaz’s ultimate Christmas roast last year, which was delicious!! and the leftover filled sandwich was sooooo good.
    @sydlw

  5. Lisa says:

    Hi,

    I start my Christmas shopping around November. I like to have everything ready by early/ mid December so that I can enjoy the festive season without worrying about buying gifts, etc… The shops are so busy in December, I just couldn’t face them!!! I have also got really into essential oils this year and use them in my mindfulness classes for children. The kids love them, especially lavender. Wishing you a Merry Christmas! Xx

  6. Polly Rowan says:

    Oh gosh, August?! I usually start thinking of ideas around September/October and also whenever I think of something throughout, I write it in the notes section on my phone. I then have ideas for most of my family when it comes around to their birthday/Christmas! But I usually don’t start shopping until November at least.
    My family now does secret Santa (on each side of my family, and then also an immediate family one) so it means I actually only need to buy three main presents. It’s so much less stressful and it means we can put loads of thought into buying something special instead of just loads of ‘stuff’. My family still does stockings too, with all the fun bits like chocolate, books and socks!
    I am in Australia at the moment but flying back to London 3 weeks today and I’m soooo excited for festive vibes because it’s just not the same in Australia being 30*C! I love the look of this diffuser. I’ve wanted one for years- they look so zen.
    Merry Christmas! Xoxo

  7. Leisha says:

    I love how you so vividly remember all those Christmases ? I don’t think I can deal with that late of Christmas shopping though haha.

    I usually start Christmas shopping late November. I spend Christmas with my partners’s family in Spain. Considering I love shopping from small stores and on etsy starting a little early gives me time to explore places and order things that would take a couple of weeks, sometimes..
    It also gives me some time to think about what a person would love, need and use the most. I dislike gifting presents that someone would never use or aleady have half a dozen of. And I love personalizing them, getting things embroidered or engraved, making little gift baskets with some homemade elements. Something really thoughtful..

    Is it too early to start wishing a Merry Christmas? ??

  8. Elodie says:

    I always get started just before Black Friday so I can get good deals and be prepared ? @elodie_pepin

  9. Katie Harrison says:

    I like waiting till just a week or so before Christmas.

    I can see how it would be nicer to start earlier – to extend the Christmas period and joviality – but I get too excited about giving my gifts to those I love and see their faces (hopefully pleased) so I would spoil the surprises if I bought their presents too early!

  10. Amanda says:

    I start mine round about now. (My insta handle @rhymeandribbons ) xx

  11. Jadie says:

    I started mine a couple of weeks ago, so I can spread it out across paydays but leave myself some money for the sales in Jan!

  12. Anya says:

    I start mine this saturday coming (the day after my birthday) and Christmas then officially begins december 1st 🙂 Cannot get my head round how people start so early or so close to Christmas!

  13. Alice Thomas says:

    I start thinking about my Christmas presents in November, make a list by the end of November but always do a mad rush 2 weeks before. I never learn.. But hope to be super organised this year now I’m on maternity.

    @aliceclarethomas

  14. Becca says:

    I usually plan ideas for people in October (sometimes I’ll make notes on my phone throughout the year if someone says something or does something). Then I actually start shopping in early November. I’m a teacher so it’s a stressful time as it is, anything to help alleviate some of that is a bonus to me! Haha!
    @becca_r

  15. Laura says:

    I usually lastminute.com ?
    @lauracffranco

  16. Cherie says:

    I think I start around Black Friday (i.e. tomorrow, haha!) because there are some good deals and it’s close enough to Christmas to start thinking about it…

    @delicately on insta 🙂

  17. Mim says:

    We are both AWFUL when it comes to getting Christmas presents organised in time — and now that we live over the other side of the world from our families, we’re even worse! haha. We’re trying to move to a ‘less is more’ approach, so I guess that’s our excuse 😉
    Ps. Chichester!! Mark’s aunt lives in Emsworth, and we’ve spent some very lovely Christmases there over the last few years. Small world! x
    @thecommonwanderer

  18. I ultimately note down present ideas throughout the year so I have something on hand when it comes to Christmas season and birthdays. Usually I actively start planning in November. Those DIY and homemade present take some time… Anyhow there are always some last minute actions during the last week. Overall I try to make purposeful and sustainable gifts! But afterall I try to focus more on the aspect of spending quality time together and enjoying the the holidays instead of consumerism. @aliciaullrch

  19. Diana says:

    Let me just start by saying that this exact
    total de-stress essential oil diffuser is actually on my Christmas list. Oh, what a gem!! So when I saw your post, I did a little happy dance ? I start my Christmas shopping in November each year. I find it less stressful to do all the shopping a little over a month before the huge rush! I usually have a list of all the possible ideas and try to do my best to buy stuff that will make my family/friends feel jolly, they will actually use or they hinted they wanted ? Fingers and toes crossed for this giveaway! ?

  20. Olivia says:

    I started my Christmas shopping yesterday, after already deciding what to buy everyone on my list so I don’t get tempted to stray from my list! A diffuser is definitely on my Christmas list as a treat to myself! x

  21. Eva Harput says:

    I make notes throughout the year and the use the sales time of Black Friday/Cyber week to get some good deals.
    Always score something for myself too of course ?
    @evaashka

  22. Ann says:

    I’m always late and start my Christmas shopping in December! Hehe.
    @annickenhj

  23. If I see something I think someone would like I’ll buy it whenever and then try and resist the urge to give it to them before Christmas! ??‍♀️

  25. Alice Murray says:

    Hi Joy!

    I am starting my Christmas shopping on Monday! Last minute, I know, but I live in Brighton and it’s so magical around Christmas time – just adds to the whole experience. I only really buy for the people closest to me, everyone else I bake for. I absolutely adore baking, therefore what better way to share it than with the people I love, around Christmas time. There is something amazing about giving people something you have created, I just love it. Funnily enough, I was going to surprise my mum with a diffuser from Neil’s Yard, but this one looks just as beautiful. She would be so over the moon! Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Loretta says:

    I usually start my Christmas shopping after my birthday at the end of September 🙂

    Next year I think I’ll try to pick up things as I go throughout the year

    My Instagram handle is @lorettaplans

  27. Hajnalka says:

    I start my Christmas shopping after my daughters birthday! Which is at the beginning of the month.

  28. Hannah Reynolds says:

    I’ve tried to be as sustainable as I can this year and decided to buy gifts that are either hand-made such as soy candles with essential oils or making something at my ceramics class that I started earlier this year.

    I also think it’s really important to support local makers and I have decided it would be really lovely to buy my family experiences rather than materialistic items, such as a pamper session at a local salon or a diy class making something to take home!

    So to answer your question.. I have been thinking and making for a couple of weeks but haven’t actually bought anything yet and will probably do more research over the next week before booking! I want to make sure I am not buying for the sake of it and putting time in before I buy… fingers crossed it will all go to plan!

    I’m loving your blog and Instagram at the moment, it is bringing me so much inspiration and warmth in this cold month of December.

    Speak soon and take care – @hannah.reynolds_

  29. Lena says:

    For me this whole getting and giving presents is a bit overwhelming tbh…. I’m currently overthinking my way of life and consumerism in terms of sustainability and emotional worth (minimalism). SO this year my plan is the following (and yes that means I haven’t bought anything yet…oh man):
    I’ll knit and crochet little presents for my friends. My sister gets some personalised accessories and makeup for her graduation ball. My father LOVES the idea of a Christmas village so I’ll craft some tiny houses and trees for him. My mother is the most hardworking human being , that’s why I’ll bake her a cake and get her some essential oils.
    That’s the plan. Next year I’ll start earlier and maybe organise a crafting weekend with friends.

    Have a nice festive season y’all!

    @l.s.why

  30. Dhana says:

    Wonderful giveaway ?! I am already done this year, I normally try to buy all gifts by mid-November to avoid the stress. Have a lovely day, Dhana (@dhananas)

  31. Jovana Savic says:

    I am buying Christmas presents by during the whole year when ever I see something that reminds me on someone who I love and appreciate 🙂 I have big storage just for that presents 🙂
    @jovanasvc

  32. Kelly says:

    I’m a last minute person. You will find me in the shops of Xmas eve. I try to keep gifts to a minimum and only buy things I know people will love for a long time, or experiences they can enjoy.

    @kellychapmanphoto

  33. Jessica Craske says:

    I love buying all the stocking fillers from early Autumn! Whenever I find something little and fun – never expensive – that makes me think of somebody I instantly go into stocking filler mode! The main Christmas presents all happen the Eve before I’m afraid! I’m such a last minute Lizzy… Although I always have a Pinterest board going all year round for Christmas that I pin any ideas into as I find them throughout the year or somebody mentions something they want. Makes that last minute dash a lot easier.
    @jess.e.rose

  34. Kelly says:

    I’m a lifelong planner, so I actually started Christmas shopping in 2018! I love buying little gifts throughout the year from my travels or whenever I see something that reminds me of someone. This summer, I visited family in Spain and brought my dad back fabada beans and sidre from Asturias (where he’s from). We live in the US now, and he hasn’t been back to Asturias in 20 years! I know to have a taste of home will make his Christmas!
    @kelbels8

  35. Marisa Bohin says:

    I start in November, I can’t wait!

    @marisabohin

  36. April says:

It’s that time of the year again when all that matters is CHOCOLATE and HOT CROSS BUNS!!! Now if you can combine the two… then you have a winning combo in my opinion. I can’t quite believe it’s been a whole year since I last made and shared these (they were in a collab with […]
