Zoo Days

  1. I haven’t been to a zoo in a long time. Personally, I think there’s a cycle we’re trapped in. Animals that were once wild and free are now captive in a zoo, but their offspring have known nothing different, and probably would not survive in the wild. -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

  2. Nina Dhollander says:

I think it definitely depends on the zoo, some play a major role in research and conservation AND do their best to give their animals a great shelter. But unfortunately that’s not the case for every zoo / animal park… Eg. I’m hoping to never visit any "aquariam-zoo" again, especially if they have whales. They’re always confined in too small spaces and sometimes even alone while most of them are social beings. It’s just not worth it.

  3. Maria Ana says:

I think the same… it’s kind of sad that they live in such small spaces…

I’m also not sure how I feel about zoos. I love visiting them, it is a great opportunity to see animals you normally wouldn’t be able to see and I do think they do an amazing job of keeping the species alive but the enclosures are just so small in comparison to the size of the area they would live in if they were in the wild…

    Lovely photos though!

  5. Jes says:

When I visited Syd a little while ago I made sure I made times to go to the Zoo.

It’s so, so much bigger than our Zoo here in Melbourne and oh my the view from the Giraffes is to die for! Lucky little giraffes they are. 🙂

I think it definitely depends on the zoo. Some zoos do some amazing conservation work and really take care of the animals.

  7. Emily says:

I feel the same way you do about the zoo. I love seeing the animals, but I would love seeing them in the wild even more. But with the damage that humans are doing to the environment I think soon our only change to see these amazing creatures will be in zoos. There is this horrible little zoo about 30 minutes from me – they have all these majestic birds kept in tiny dirty cages. I’ve been thinking of reporting them to PETA and seeing if they will do anything about it. 🙂
