Just Books 01

  1. Ailish Trimble says:

I really want to read ‘I am Malala’ too, ‘Gone Girl’ is great for a quick, easy and thrilling read, I couldn’t put it down. Some of my favourite books at the moment are ‘The Diviners’ by Margaret Laurence, ‘The New York Trilogy’ by Paul Auster, ‘Jasmine’ by Bharati Mukherji, ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’ by Jonathan Safran Foer, ‘Cat’s Eye’ by Margaret Atwood, I could go on but I guess that’s enough, love an overly keen literature student.

    • Tania Joy says:

Oh thank you so much for all of these recommendations!! I’ll make sure to check them out! I need to buy ‘I am Malala’ AND ‘Gone Girl’ AND… basically most of these. I’ve seen the ‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’ movie but haven’t read the book, I’ll add it to my list! x

  2. Antonia Untersperger says:

This is a great list of books. I also love reading and usually read for 45 minutes to an hour every night before falling asleep. One book which you might enjoy is "A Secret Kept" by Tatiana De Rosnay. It’s one of my all-time favorite books.
The next book I’m going to read is Gone Girl. Everyone’s been raving about it so I figured I’ve got to give it a go.

    • Tania Joy says:

Oh I need to get into a bed time reading routine too! Will add ‘A secret Kept’ to my list, thank you! and yes.. Gone Girl I think is a must read (although I’m saying this, I still need to read it!) x

  3. Laura Brockway says:

I’m exactly the same! I found Gone Girl very slow starting and hard to get into so it was a bit of a let down for me, sorry!

    • Disa Chantel says:

I second that opinion. Everyone talks about how good it is, but I couldn’t get past the first couple chapters. The Fault in Our Stars, however, was a great read (but it didn’t make me cry).

      • Tania Joy says:

Oh really?? Interesting! thank you girls for letting me know.. I might try to read it if I get my hands on it, or maybe I should wait until a friend can lend it to me! Oh and yes I’ve heard good things about The Fault in Our stars, it’s actually on the top of my list! x

  4. Beth says:

I absolutely LOVED The Fault in Our Stars. It’s beautiful and I wept while reading it. (Is it weird that I like books that make me cry?)

  5. Rekha Monger says:

Bookstores are the safest place in the whole wide world, i feel.
I loved The fault in our Stars….looking forward to Gone Girl.

    • Tania Joy says:

They really are, I could spend endless hours in bookstores & libraries. It’s always quiet, & peaceful 🙂 x

  6. Emily Glass says:

Gone Girl was fantastic! Read it in about two days when I should have really been writing an essay. Whatever. It’s gripping!

    • Tania Joy says:

Getting so many mixed opinions in the comments about Gone Girl! I think I really have to try it now, just to make my own! 🙂 x

  7. Nicole says:

Gone Girl is sooooo good! Thanks for the list – I’m actually heading to the library today!!

  8. Josceline Cluff says:

Great list of books, I’d really like to read the debt to pleasure. My favourite books (the unputdownable, look at the world differently afterwards kind) are Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, Another Country by James Baldwin and Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer. I would highly recommend all three!

    • Tania Joy says:

I’m in the middle of reading the Debt to pleasure & I’m really enjoying it. Mostly because it’s about food, memories & travels. I mean I read cookbooks like novels so…
Thank you so much for all of these extra recommendations! I almost started Shantaram, but I was leaving to Italy (I think) & the SIZE of this book is impressive so I left it behind, but I must give it another go! x

  9. Caitlin says:

Great list! I’ve been wanting to read the Zelda Fitzgerald book but I didn’t know if it was any good!
